Tim Wakefield announces his retirement Wakefield, 45, was 200-180 with a 4.41 ERA in 627 appearances in his 19-year career. The Florida native spent the final 17 seasons with the Red Sox, going 186-168 with a 4.43 ERA over 590 games. Fenway Park To Host Free Ice Skating City residents will be able to skate for free on a rink constructed on the baseball field on Jan. 3rd and 10th, as part of Boston’s New Year’s celebrations. The rink is being built on the ballpark’s surface to host the NHL’s Winter Classic game on New Year’s Day where the Bruins are expected to face off against the Philadelphia Flyers before more than 38,000 fans.
